I’ve been writing about the kinds of speech we use these days, starting with vulgar speech a couple of days ago, controlling the tongue yesterday (which dealt with words and terms scripture frowns on), and today what constitutes good speech according to scripture. Like yesterday, the list below isn’t intended to be comprehensive, but it should add perspective to our consideration of the ways (bad and good) we use our tongues.
Ephesians 4:29–Building others up
Proverbs 17:28–Practicing silence
Proverbs 15:4–Gentle speech
Psalm 37:30–Wisdom and justice
Proverbs 16:24–Pleasant words
Proverbs 12:25–Good words
I encourage you to do your own search. As I’m sure I overlooked scripture in the different categories that have been discussed, please send me anything new at firstname.lastname@example.org.
