In St. Paul’s second letter to the church in Corinth, we find this greeting: “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (II Corinthians 2:1, NIV)
When I began working on my new book, A Time To Be Born, I began looking for blogs that dealt, at least in part, with the same subject. One that I found early on is Grace for Moms at www.graceformoms.com. It was co-founded by Jessica Wolstenholm and Kristy Chowning. Jessica has also co-authored with Dr. Heather Rupe The Pregnancy Companion: A Faith-Filled Guide for Your Journey to Motherhood and The Baby Companion: A Faith-Filled Guide for Your Journey Through Baby’s First Year.
I read the Grace for Moms blog every day because I find a dose of the grace in Paul’s greeting to the Corinthians. Though written for Moms, this blog contains wisdom for Dads acting as parents for their children and supporters for their spouses — for Moms. The blog posts are thought-provoking, deal with a host of child-rearing and profoundly personal subjects, and discuss important issues that are sometimes avoided. They will make you think hard and dig deep.
There are also several guest bloggers who contribute to the variety of topics covered by Grace for Moms. They too provide challenge and comfort.
Though Jessica’s books mentioned above and my new book aren’t exactly alike, they do complement each other. If you are embarked on the adventure of pregnancy and childbirth, reading different books on the subject, especially books that approach the birth of a child as a spiritual journey, will help you rely on God and His spirit to see you through.
You will find grace for mom, dad, and baby.
